Submarine Ring Buoy  (For submarine use)

In addition to life preservers, ring buoys are also outfitted on ships as life saving equipment. There are inherently buoyant, inflatable, and foam type (submarines only) that are authorized for shipboard use. Inherently buoyant life buoys are required on ships.  Inflatable and foam type life buoys are optional to supplement the inherently buoyant life buoys.  Ring buoys shall be located in the quarter deck area and forecastle area and on boats as necessary.  Ring Buoys shall be located to be readily available on the port and starboard of the ship as practical. Submarines shall have ring buoys stored topside when surfaced for a prolonged period of time.
