Anti-Flash Gloves (For submarine use)

(GQ Anti-Flash Gloves)




The Anti-Flash gloves is cotton flame resistant, comes in one size only (One size fits all). The glove is a five finger design and includes a clute-cut pattern, with an attached one-piece elbow-length gauntlet, gathered at the wrist and elbow by an elastic braid to provide proper fit.  The basic material is a flame-retardant treated cotton flannel cloth conforming to MIL-C-24933.


The anti-flash gloves and hood are donned by shipforce personnel when going to General Quarters as part of their battle dress.  To Don. Pull the anti-flash gloves up over the shirt sleeves until the tips of the fingers are in the fingers of the anti-flash gloves and the anti-flash glove gauntlet is fully extended, as shown


The anti-flash gloves are worn by personnel to protect the hands and forearms from exposure to a flash fire so that the person can egress from a casualty space. This helps

to protect personnel from transient, elevated air temperatures resulting from the use of high explosive weapons flash burn threats caused by fire in combat action.  

Protection of hands is critical to personnel safety egress and escape.
