The commercial version of this vest is a Coast Guard approved pouch life preserver and provides 33 pounds of buoyancy. It does not come with a lifting harness. The MIL-SPEC version provides the wearer with approximately 29 pounds of buoyancy and has a lifting harness attached for lifting a person from the water during rescue. See Abondon Ship Life Preserver Tip 001 for AEL info.
