FIREFIGHTERS HELMET (REV APRIL 2017)

(BULLARD Model FXA-1TL RED by E.D. Bullard Company)

NSN 8415-01-625-2932         P/N FXA-1TL RED

Description:

The new FXA-1TL RED firefighter’s helmet with integral TRAKLITE® consists of the helmet front mounted LED assembly consisting of eight bright white light emitting diodes protected behind a heat-resistant glass and a rear under brim mounted battery housing with a single bright blue buddy indicator LED enabling a highly increased ability to track the wearer in low visibility situations.  The helmet shell design is made of a special woven heat-resistant fiberglass. The helmets are bright red in color with reflective markings on both sides of helmet and top side of the rear brim. The helmet has a brim that extends at the back to protect the firefighter’s neck and collar from hot objects or water and falling debris. Attached to the brim is an adjustable 4 inch high oval-shaped face shield that protects the face from heat flash, spraying fluids, and direct bursts of firefighting water.  The helmet is fitted with an adjustable “ratchet-type” suspension to provide universal fit and greater comfort for the wearer. A chin strap is attached to the helmet to ensure the helmet remains in place. The ear/neck protector provides protection against heat and flash for the neck and ears. Additional heat and flash protection is enhanced by wearing the mandated firefighter’s hood (NSN 8415-01-462-7670) (P/N PAC-IX GOLD) beneath the helmet.

The helmet is designed for use by firefighting teams and investigators to protect the head, neck and face from short duration flame (flash) exposure, heat, fluid spray and falling debris. The Traklite is easily operable with a gloved hand. The single rotary switch on the battery housing powers both the front LEDs and the rear buddy indicator light. Powered by four AAA batteries, Traklite is energy efficient, with a runtime of at least six continuous hours at a minimum brightness level of 50% with fresh batteries.

WARNING The faceshield is not intended to provide primary eye protection. The faceshield is not shatterproof and will not protect eyes from harmful rays. Large objects and/or objects traveling at high speeds may break or penetrate the faceshield and injure the wearer’s face or eyes. Additional protection maybe required.

The firefighting helmet and TRAKLITE® meet National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)

1971 Standard on Protective Ensembles for Structural Fire Fighting and CSA Class I, Zone 2, IIC; T4 requirements for Nonincendive Electrical Equipment for use in Class I, Division 2 Hazardous Locations.

Weight of the helmet with integral LED light and batteries is approximately 3.5 lbs. The helmet is approximately 8 inches high by 13 ¾ inches long and 12 inches wide.

Helmets are provided in the Firefighting/Access Personnel Kits and Investigator Kits.
